About MLD - Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual lymphatic drainage is a type of manual manipulation of the skin, not to be confused with massage, based on the hypothesis that it will encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues back toward the heart.

Usually, some results will be noticeable immediately after your facial lymphatic drainage massage however the fluid will begin to properly drain around 24 to 48 hours post massage. For each individual client, the rate of lymphatic drainage can differ and therefore each individual will notice different results.

Pre and Post Cosmetic Surgery

Swelling, bruising, and discomfort usually follow any type of cosmetic procedure or plastic surgery. While these side effects are a normal part of the healing process, they often disrupt the lymphatic system and lead to secondary complications. Secondary complications may include excessive swelling, persistent pain, a look and feeling of puffiness, hardened lumps/bumps, and thickened skin (known as fibrosis). MLD reduces the risk of complications, shortens post-surgical healing time.

Your therapist may use manual lymph drainage along with other techniques, including: Exercises. Compression bandages, sleeves, or stockings.
